Member of the Order of Canada (CM)

Established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Canada is the centrepiece of Canada’s honours system and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. The Member of the Order of Canada (CM) recognizes a lifetime of distinguished service in or to a particular community, group or field of activity.

 

Lieutenant-Colonel LeSueur Brodie, CM

Citation

An engineer who has rendered distinguished services to Canada in war and peace, and whose interest in military history has found expression in his many gifts to various museums in Canada.

The Brodie Building at CFSRCEME in CFB Borden houses the armament cell of artisan company’s weapons and electronics platoon and is used to train weapons technicians. It is named in honour of Lieutenant-Colonel Leseur Brodie, OC, a longtime secretary-treasurer of the RCEME Association, reservist, and wartime soldier who had been awarded the Order of Canada in 1976 for his accomplishments as an engineer in war and peace.
